or what is left of it.
Many people have emailed and asked how's our famous landmark--The Florabama, the best roadhouse in the U.S.
Ivan took out the brick building in front that housed the package store and connected to the area we used to call the Main Stage. Now there is just the outside parts left. But the show goes on, as these photos from April's Rusty McHugh Memorial Party show For anyone who doesn't know, the FloraBama is right on the Florida / Alabama line.
This photo of the FloraBama was taken late afternoon from the beach side. As you can see, all the nice boardwalks are gone. But the beach is super--clean white sand.
The Deck Stage is sorta the Main Stage now. In warm months, there is also a big white tent set up on the sand where a second band will play.
The last trip we made to the FloraBama was for the Rusty McHugh Memorial Party. Rusty was a regular performer at the 'Bama and died of cancer way too young. His songs are so funny and lots of the FloraBama regulars know all the words by heart.
Any attire is appropriate at the FloraBama, and that is one of the things that adds to the fun.
One of the Lolas and a cute guy.
Occasionally folks just have too much fun at the Flora-Bama.
Lots of pretty blue skies and beautiful water.
