Just a heads up: If it is a holiday weekend or there is an event like the Fishing Rodeo going on, keep in mind you may have a long wait. It probably wouldn't hurt to call and see what kind of lines they are having that day.

You drive across a ramp right onto the ferry. Once onboard, you can get out of your vehicle and watch the scenery from the deck or an observation platform and enjoy the cool Gulf breeze. Your family and friends can all pile in the car or truck or on motorcycles and drive aboard the ferry for a fun 45 minute ride across Mobile Bay. The birds like to hitch a free ride across and all aim straight into the wind.

The Mobile Bay Ferry leaves from the tip end of Ft. Morgan Road and travels to Dauphin Island, back and forth every 1 1/2 hour approx. The first run is earlymorning from Dauphin Island arriving at Ft. Morgan and the last trip leaves Dauphin Island usually around sunset. Hours vary by season.

There are always interesting things to see on the ferry ride like the outer-space looking gas rigs out in Mobile Bay.

Once on Dauphin Island you can tour the Estuarium at The Dauphin Island Sea Lab. It is open daily with an admission charge, and group rates are available. Interesting for all ages.
