Craft Farms Golf Resort is planning for the last days of The Woodlands Golf Course after it was sold last week to Birmingham-based Colonial Properties Trust, which plans to turn the golf course into a residential and retail development.
Cotton Creek Golf Course and Cypress Bend Golf Course, the two Arnold Palmer-designed championship courses also a part of Craft Farms, will not be affected, but Woodlands is scheduled to close for public play on Oct. 16.
According to owner Robert Craft they are going to do something special for three or four days for the local people who have supported them over the years. they'll have an extraordinarily reduced rate or no rate at all, he said.
"We're still putting some things together for the last day. When we turn the lights off on the 20th, the lights will be off."
The Woodlands has been a very popular upscale courses in Baldwin County because of its beautiful natural setting and a the limited degree of difficulty that favored by high handicappers.
Its prime location on the west side of Gulf Shores Parkway, just as you enter Gulf Shores, make it a valuable piece of property.
Woodlands Golf Course averaged 45,000 rounds per year over the last 10 years.
The two other Craft Farms courses, both beautiful also, Cotton Creek and Cypress Bend, should absorb those golfers and it will be good for those locations.
