Gulf State Park Pier

Gulf Shores | Orange Beach State Park Pier

The long awaited pier, under construction since the wipe-out of Hurricane Ivan, is open for strolling and fishing. Longest pier into the Gulf ! See Video Below.

Gulf Shores Pier, Orange Beach Pier,Gulf State Park

Gulf State Park Pier--Gulf Shores, Alabama
The new fishing pier at Gulf State Park.

The 825 ft. fishing pier on the Gulf of Mexico was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan.

Construction of a new pier is complete. It is the only public pier on the Gulf in Alabama. The new pier is the longest pier on the Gulf of Mexico at 1540 ft.

The new pier is 20 feet wide and 1,512 feet long. It has a concession area with rest rooms, picnic tables, snack bar and tackle shop. The end of the pier is an octagon shape that is about 65 feet across, whereas the old pier’s end cap was only 30 feet wide.

The new pier has wooden handrails that meet the new American Disabilities Act guidelines, and the pier is accessible by ramp from the parking lot. The parking lot is about the same size as the old one with about 250 parking spaces with plenty of handicapped spaces.

The new pier will also is two feet higher with an elevation of 20 feet above sea level, where the old pier was at elevation 18.

The location of the new pier is 250 feet east of the old pier.

The pier boast features that were not available on the old pier, destroyed in 2004 by Hurricane Ivan, such as indoor seating for concession area, indoor retail area for tackle and souvenirs, comfort stations at the midpoint of the pier(seen in picture above) and wheelchair accessible rail fishing. The new pier has 2448 feet of fishing space available along the rails. Below is a list of rules and regulations and user fees for the pier. For more information please contact the pier @ (251) 967-FISH(3474)

Many people do not know that Alabama even has beaches, but Alabama has the most beautiful white sugar sand beaches around. The weather is glorious, the area is full of golf courses, and the Alabama Gulf Coast has been a steady award winner in family beach vacation categories. Gulf Shores is the original and most well known part of the beach, Orange Beach has been more recently developed and Perdido Key is right next to Orange Beach.  We do not have nearly the traffic problems that the Destin area seems to have now-a-days. The prices are very reasonable down in Dixie, the weather is exceptional, and the people are the friendliest ever !
