A short scenic ride from Gulf Shores / Orange Beach and something fun to do when you have had too much sun ! See some pretty Alabama rural countryside, pecan orchards, cross some scenic rivers, and spot a few 'Snuffy Smith' looking kudzu covered homesites as well on your way to Silverhill!

Wales West offers a host of activities designed to entertain and educate young and old alike. It is filled with Victorian styled Welsh buildings, from train stations to an authentic Welsh chapel imported from the UK. With a three-acre lake, nature trails, tearoom and gift shop there is a lot to enjoy.

Wales West is a unique concept centering around a modern R. V. resort, fully equipped with all the latest facilities to earn a five W rating from Woodalls. It is a true train & garden lovers R.V. resort. In an effort to share their love for trains & gardens with everyone, the owners have also created a 13 acre train and garden family park which surrounds the Wales West RV resort and is open to the general public. The RV resort is open all year.

They also do a lot of parties, school field trips and other programs for local folks, summer families and winter snowbirds. Lots going on out there.....

A 2ft. gauge steam powered Welsh style narrow gauge railway circles the resort. Also on site is a mile long 7.5" gauge grand scale track winding through the woods and gardens. You are invited to bring your own trains to the park, or simply just come and enjoy riding on theirs.  If you like trains & gardens this wonderful steam train is sure to delight you. It winds through the park on a mile long track that passes by woodlands, pastures, a lake and many Welsh Victorian style buildings. There are 2 main gauges of railway/railroad at WalesWest, the main 2' gauge system & the 7.5" Grand Scale line. Both systems are located within the park, which surrounds the WalesWest RV resort. The two tracks border each other in many places.

Pick up a great free county road map at the Chamber of Commerce office in the park in Foley in the center of town. But you'll do fine without one as numbered roads run in order--you can't go wrong.
